Even jeff got in the act!

bursts

some days are filled with creativity, others have some bursts.  This week has been one filled with little bursts so I cleaned my workspace and tried to finish some things during those bursts of energy.

ribbon roses are really quite easy to make, quick, too.  I imagine these becoming a page in a fabric book that has been spinning in my mind for a long time.  The blue ink will disappear with water - I really like these marking pens.

this is another cabinet card journal  cover - I'm not too happy with it yet but the dies are helping....

another felt brooch put together, now it needs the pin back.

a sewn journal but I used grunge paper instead of grunge board so it isn't as sturdy as I had hoped.  I do really like the cover, though......

today I may add some stems to the ribbon flowers, and play with the pop up ideas from last week.

And on a final fun note......we ran into this guy last night on "free first Thursday at the Art Museum....a local hero/villain.....

wip

remember this........

a work in progress - added some button embellishments and finally put her in permanently.
still have some ideas for the inside but I am keeping it to a minimum - don't want to take away from the beautiful cover and window........

and these are part of the Sketches 2016 class offering.  I may have a kit or two if you are interested.
Leave a comment below or email me (you can also find me on facebook) for more information.

Back to the work table for me!

scrap buster album

14 sheets 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock:  I used the Recollections pack in pinks from Michael's.  They are on sale today @ 4/$10.  That's $2.50 per pack of 50, that means it costs 70 cents for all of the cardstock!

scraps that coordinate:  I went through my bins and pulled papers that had similar colors.
sizes will vary from 7 x 7 down to 3 x 3.  The book measures 7 x 7

I also put the entire thing together with Tacky Glue!  I used a "light  hand" and it worked great - I am not a fan of tape with this.  I need some play time and the ability to re-align.

A full size scoreboard is also needed, along with a paper trimmer.  I also used my WR envelope maker to punch the notches from each pocket.  There are 20 pockets!

Uses:  picture album, journal or even a Memory Game folder for kids (each pocket can hold a picture/word and they are all moveable!)

It is very easy to make!
Want to know how?  Check back again!  hehe......

pop ups

the library offered a free pop up card/book class this week.
It is a beautiful 4 story building downtown and is cool - meaning airconditioned!
We ventured down there and had a great time in a hands on, hour long class.

Everything was supplied, too.  Apparently the library offers something called "take 10" every day from 12 - 1pm and workers from the downtown area walk in, have lunch and learn something!  What a great concept!

I came home and gave it a quick try!  More to come!!

Oh,  those of us who drove and parked in the 3 level underground parking (yes you need to park underground so you can sit on the car seat and touch the steering wheel when you return - remember it is 106 degrees outside then magnified through the windshield.....) got a 2 hour free parking pass, too!!  Great bonus!!

check back again for a "scrap buster" project......

free online class

Check out Carla Sonheim's blog (search her name and it will come up).  She has a free kids online art class this week.  I'm sure there will be some fun things to try.

mariachis!!

spent an evening downtown at La Cocina!   Story telling, poetry slams, break dancing, free tacos, snowcones and pop!  10 minutes from home.
but the best by far, and the reason we really went (okay the free tacos came in a close second!) was this

Mariachi Music!!  Pueblo High School has a great Mariachi Band.  Yes, it is a class here.
And they were great!!  This is just a small portion of the group.  School doesn't begin for another week.

Now back to the craft table.
thanks for stopping in today!

club exchange cards

Just finished my exchange cards for SALSA, a stamping/paper crafting group that meets monthly here in Tucson.  There are over 75 members and at least 60 attend each month.
They have 3 monthly swaps:  ATC, theme card, and embellishment card.  You make one card and get one in return.  The ATC swap makes a certain amount and you get that many back. ( I decided not to make these).

the embellishments were the tags.
technique:  shadow stamping pigment white ink and overstamping with a die ink, off-setting just a little
die cut flowers that were crystal laquered for shine.
I used an old Hero Arts background stamp

theme:  "turn off and tune out"
embossed in white powder and "water colored" with distress inks (it took less than 10 minutes!)
the second image started the same but I  simply used a distress tool and swished across with 5 inks.
I will keep it for another card.
Another old Hero Arts stamp and a much older quikutz flower die.

We meet tomorrow morning from 9am - noon in the Lucky Strike Bowling Alley!

samples and more

I've been working!!  Samples are piling up on the table.

cards, journals, Christmas and of course Halloween!

I hope to see old friends and new in Michigan.  More information about that will come!

We had a few new visitors here, too.  A bobcat stopped by for a while and then a few mule deer.

I didn't get too close to the bobcat.  He was cute but we have been told to keep out distance!
The deer came right up to the fence.  Don't you just love their ears?!

Oh, Michael's has their paper packs on sale again:  $2 for pack of 50 sheets. I always pick up white, cream, kraft and black.  They are for layering and I even use them for journal bases, too.
stop back again!
