so excited!!!

The Gem Show is here!!  All over town!!  Tents are everywhere, literally up and down most major streets.  And I just remembered she is here, too!

NINA BAGLEY IS IN THE OLD PUEBLO!!

She is without a doubt. my most favorite instructor of all time.  Not able to take classes from her this time around but I will look her up and I hope she will be selling her things at a marketplace on Thursday.

You may not know here name ( you can look her up) but if you have ever taken any mixed media/book classes with me, you have been guided by her ideas and techniques.

I'll let you know what I find at the show next week.

And check back later today.  I am just about ready to start the sale here.

just heard this news......

Basic Grey is leaving the paper craft business.  If there is anything you might need, check out their website.  They will take orders for a little while longer.

And that is sad.  I haven't always loved their lines at first but every time I used it, I fell in love with it.
If one side was a little too much, the other was perfect!

Take a look, you might be surprised at what they offered.

paper update

hey there!

rumor has it that the GR45 Children's Hours papers arrived at Scrappy Chic.........
Check out the cards you can make with this year's monthly tutorials, available for only $8 per month.
My goal for each month is to use up every bit of paper -  lots of cards and ideas.

6 cards and a tag!
6 cards and a tag!

Not sure you want the paper pads - no problem, I provide sketches and all the info for you to use your own papers.
And if you really like the papers used, you can buy the individual sheets.  This year I am using the 12 x 12 papers, along with the 6 x 6 solids and patterns pad (but you can substitute anything you have).
Let me know if you are interested.  Leave a comment or send an email!

Shadow box card make along time

Shadow Box Card

supplies:
5 x 12 double sided cardstock
coordinating solid cardstock
score board
oval and scallop dies (or any other shapes to create a window)
embellishments, stamps
adhesives
finished size:  4 x 5 (totally mail-able!)
Directions:

Score double sided cardstock @ 1/2, 4, 4 1/2, 8, 8 1/2
fold to create a box with a flap

Cut out window from cardstock and a frame from the solid cardstock

Cut out a larger oval to go inside box and stamp a message (make sure it will fit and be seen from opening)
the one on the right didn't fit!

Audition everything before you begin to adhere everything down!
Glue frame down and then put card together before adding message inside.

attach tape to 1/2 flap, close to the score line
lay flat and close the card.
the 1/2 sections should line up and seal together.  when you open the card, the shadow box should open, too.

I also attached solid cardstock to the left side, attached the message inside the frame opening and decorated with dies.  All of the dies were from Papertrey Ink.
Have fun!!

make sure you have clean fingers to the end!

hmmmmmmmm.....

what would you do......

you go to a sale that happens once a month
you find an interesting old book that is not in perfect shape
you buy it for $2 thinking the covers would be a great "new" book
you show it to your husband and he looks it up
it's worth $50 - $100
he says " man, you have a good eye for these"....

get ready...

grab your score board, paper trimmer, adhesives, and some paper (5 x 12 double sided and a couple coordinating scraps)!

A shadow box make-along is coming soon!

okay, I also used an oval scallop die and a smaller oval die, and a few stamps.  If you know me, you know I love banners and hearts, too.

I'll give you some time to grab your supplies!
back soon.

SKETCHES 2016

I present to you............

Sketches 2016
a 12 month series of card designs and more
Each monthly Tutorial will include:
 card sketches
step out pictures of cards as they are made
 written directions,including paper measurements
suggestions for added stamping, die cutting/punching, embellishments and more

You can use your own papers, too.  The sketches will give you the opportunity to choose from your own stash.  If you want to follow my paper choices, you can purchase the sheets individually for the month or buy the entire pad.  I will be using Graphic 45 12 x 12  Children's Hour paper collection along with their 6 x 6 coordinating Dots and Patterns pad.  This paper collection follows the calendar but the sketches will allow you to create cards to fit your wants and needs for any occasion.

The cost:  $8 per month

My goal for each month is to use up all the paper so there will be a lot to share with you!  I will focus on mail-able cards but will also have tags and other ideas each month.

If you are interested, send an email or leave a comment and I will get back to you quickly.
