twist out/pop up card !

here are the directions but......skip to the bottom if you would like a kit for this card!

from this
to this!

two 8 1/2 x 11 sheets or one 12 x 12 sheet card stock
Cut one piece to 11 x 4 and fold in half  (this is the card base)
Cut one piece to 10 x 3 1/2 and score @ 2 1/2, 5, 7 1/2  and accordion fold (this holds the pictures)

Cut one piece to 8 x 3 1/2 and score the 3 1/2" side @ 1 3/4 (down the center)
rotate and mark the top and bottom of the 8" side @ 2 1/4 and 5 3/4 then score between these marks on a diagonal.   (this is the twist/pop mechanism)
Gently fold this piece into this and tape the roof as shown.

Decorate the inside card base
distress before adhering if you choose.  Then add the mechanism, centering left/right with the point at the fold.
adhere the top (remove tape cover and close card) then the bottom (again, remove tape covers and close.
this is what you have (don't worry the pencil markings will not show)

place the accordion piece on top of the mechanism, centering, and fold the outer sections in.
mark the folds with a pencil.  The adhesive will go outside this line and above/below the center.
refer to next picture.
top right
bottom left.
Adhere OPEN accordion piece to taped areas (it will be longer than the mechanism)
gently help it close and open and close again.

z fold card variation

you may remember this card shape

it can very easily be turned into this

with a simple fold change and a few more inside bands (or you can keep the original fold and still have a box to add the extra bands).

when you cut the first strip, cut a few more, trim so the extras have a tab (1/2") on each side and attach those tabs to the card and the formed box.
then you can add embellishments and more!

I chose a fence (die is from My Favorite Things) and flowers (Tim Holtz) that I water colored with distress inks.  The stamped verse is from Technique Tuesday.
And, it folds flat for mailing!

Come back later for another dimensional card and the how-to's.

watch for this!

I learned a few techniques this week and will be sharing them with you.

a variation on the "Z" fold card

and a twist out pop up card that I still have to try......

I also finished this year's on-line card class "Sketches 2016" using the GR 45 Children's Hour papers, along with several scrap papers I accumulated over the years (isn't it funny how that happens?).

if you are interested in this class, it is still available yearly or choose a month. It's a bargain - $8 for 10 cards.

And I also have one more Card Kit to Go.  Everything is included except the adhesives: cards, envelopes, cut to size papers, stamped images and embellishments.  $9 includes shipping.
Email me if you are interested in this set.

Remember to stop back later for instructions on the new techniques.

back and ready to begin......

We made it back safely and without too many bumps in the road.
My supplies arrived yesterday and I even managed to get to the scrapbook store for my paper pad ( and a few sheets of paper from a new Blue Fern line!).

If you signed up for something (more project photos/directions), they will be sent soon.

Watch for a new on-line card series:  Scraps and Sketches
and some card kits, too.

And I would like to thank everyone for attending the classes/ make a-long and even the demo at Scrappy Chic.  I loved seeing and visiting with all of you and it will happen again, somewhere, somehow!

Check back soon for more!!!

oh, I will be working with this paper for a few of the on-line card series cards......

I couldn't resist......

and some on-line companies:
Bluemoon scrapbooking  (small discount, lots of companies and things, free shipping over $50)
Yourscrapbooksupplyco. ( good discount, many companies but not a lot of inventory)
The Funky Junkie Boutique (great discount, many companies)

I have ordered from all of them and have not had any problems.
