aftermath...

And it rained.  We lived on Lake Perry for an afternoon!  This is our intersection after the storms.
The picket fence is our front yard.
It stayed for the day, too.  Luckily we could go out the other way if necessary.  And, it cooled down so nice.
Not so nice today......108 degrees and no rain in sight again for days.....

And after the rains, come the monsoon beetles.  They are pretty harmless.  Very slow moving, too.

So I made a folio using a 9 x 12 envelope as the base.

inside:  center has 2 tuck spots
left side has pockets that flip to reveal a few more tuck spots

and the back

A button wrap closure keeps it closed.

stay safe out there!

Monsoon arrival

we now have 9 - yes 9 - flash flood warnings for the Tucson area.  Most are for today but the final warning expires Saturday at Midnight.

The good news -  it hasn't been this cool - at 77 degrees -  since sometime during the night in April.

Our corner is now a lake.  Our yard has several ponds.  Luckily, when the rain pauses, everything kinda disappears.

picture heavy post warning!

card kit gifties

little altered paper clips!
warning:  they are very addictive!
this one has german dresden and vintage (great grandmothers) tatting
yep!  I'm using my stuff.  I don't think I will ever run out.

Plans may change so this birthday card will be going in the mail today.  We thought we would be there but are re-thinking that idea with the virus still so strong.
It's a Curious George Birthday celebration for a 3 year old.

These Twist Out/Pop Up cards are so fun to make and easy, too.  I have found the best tutorial on the Split Coast Stampers site.  Just google "twist out pop up card split coast stampers.
By far the easiest to understand and follow!
Images were all googled:  free curious george images....this set was all on one sheet, too.

and this cute this thing is making my head burst with ideas.....thinking every holiday in the world.  how about scrapbook paper for the entire cup or paper panels decorating each side or embossing first - heat or dry!
filled with goodies!
thank you to a dear friend for pointing me to this!

take care!!

heat wave!!

When it's 106 no..... 107 no...... 108.......
and the humidity is so low it sucks the moisture right out of you.....what do you do?
Stay inside of course and craft!
Here are my projects for Wednesday, Thursday and today.

I'm having so much fun with little pocket journals this week!  They are all under 4 inches but still pack a punch!
front

a closer view

inside - avacado stained paper embellished with lots of scraps
pockets galore!

back view

a little gatefold pocket and journal

a giftcard fits nicely, too.

and the tiny journal
as soon as I find my eyelets it will have closure.

vintage crepe paper bows
this crepe paper is over 40 years old.
yep, I've been saving it (and using it)
they measure 3" in length (so cute!)

decisions, decisions....which color to use for this double pocket envelope!  It has gussets on the side so it will hold plenty, too.

Oh how I wish things were ready for some fun classes!!!  We will just have to wait and see what comes of things.....

Not only is it hot temperature-wise, but I'm sure you have heard that Arizona is also a pretty hot spot for COVID, too.
We're staying home.
Stay safe my friends!

little gifties for Sketches and Scraps card kits.  A little surprise is included just about every month

the base is a vintage address block

I tried out my new embossing powders - the one on the left is robins egg blue, the center is the original and the right one is embossed with antique linen.

Happy Fourth cards!

a little gift journal.  I want it to be used so I included joural prompts (a freebie found on the Stampington site)
I just made the envelope and used my new mason jar stamp and an alphabet set.
The butterfly was laying on my workspace just waiting for the right spot to be used.

It's a cinch with the cinch!!  just remember to line up in the correct order:  insides, front cover and then the back cover - just make sure the back cover "kisses" the front cover.

a little close up of the focal point - chipboard frame (OLD maya road - remember their lunchbox tins?)  white washed then embossed with Robins egg blue, lightly sanded and scraped. Distressed with brushed cordouroy ink.  Lace is behind the TH heart charm...I love these.
I glued the heart down so it wouldn't dangle when the journal is opened.

There are five sections:  three lined paper and two plain paper.  These created the dividers.  And I had the colored tags in my stash.  They were perfect.  The pockets:  3 x 4 journaling cards included with the paper I used (Simple Stories vintage garden?)

I love this Red Lead jar stamp - especially when it works so well.  It is on the big side.
The envelope measures 4 x 5.

and a few summer hair scrunchies.  Combined with the journal, they made a perfect handmade gift during this COVID time.

Up next - the Halloween dimensional card (see older post with the Patriotic stand up card).

and finally, one down, five to go!  if the heat would only give us a little break here.  This morning 5am  already 84 outside.  Noise ordinance doesn't allow work to begin until 7am.  oh well, they will get done when they get done.

hope you are all safe and crafting!!
