fold flat tepee card

untie the bow to fold flat for mailing.
It fits into a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 envelope.
uses three 4" squares plus scraps.

cut three 4" squares and fold on the diagonal (folding it forward/backward helps but just make one diagonal fold)

line up two pieces, matching points and folds.
Adhere  (don't place it on the fold, place it right next to the fold - see the next step)

fold the bottom piece over just to make sure there is room (you want to be able to fold easily)

Adhere the third square under the top piece so it's fold is right next to the crease
fold on the crease to make sure the pieces aren't too close.

This is how it looks when folded flat for mailing.

You can apply sticky back velcro here and here so the recipient can  put the card together....
Or you can build the card and punch holes by slightly pinching the this same spot (you should get 3 holes punched) .
thread ribbon through the holes and tie a bow.
The tricky thing to remember is do not trim the bow too short.  There needs to be enough to tie a bow!

And when decorating, audition your embellishments to make sure they will still fit into the envelope!

experiments with a new stamp set

Michael's had 20% all purchases today, including sales.
And all stamps, inks and "card making" supplies were on sale for 30% (that means just about everything I want/need/use).

So.......I purchased a Jane Davenport faces set.  It included the blank face and several choices for eyes, nose and mouth.  It was also inexpensive!

My first attempt.......

but I started tinkering with color,  got too dark, got too light and ended up here

in a little better light.......

coloring tools were prisma pencils, acrylic paint and a stabillo pencil.  these could be pretty fun.  My next attempt will be with watercolors.
And I still have to finish this project.
And the diorama, and the little journal, and the tepee card.  It's supposed to get cold here (okay, relatively speaking) and rain is in the forecast for the end of the week, so there is a chance I could  complete some of these projects.
Stop back and see......

almost forgot, I also bought yarn for pompom making, Valentine paper, and a tab die/stamp set.
Oh and some fringe scissors will be coming in the mail.  Did you know you can order things on-line at Bed, Bath and Beyond, get free shipping to your house and 20% off?  I didn't until the nicest salesperson helped me out.
Fringe Scissors are also known as "Herb Cutting Scissors".

cute and easy card to make!

I've seen this style a lot.  It's not new but I never made one.  I was puzzled as to how it folded flat for mailing......duh!

card base:  8 x 4 1/4   (I used a scrapbook paper scrap)

score @ 1 1/4 and 2 1/2 on both ends and fold like this

Cut 4 pieces 1 1/8 x 4 1/8 and one piece 2 7/8 x 4 1/8 ( stamped image) and adhere to base

Cut one piece 6 x 1 and attach to sides, making sure to fold one side before attaching to the edge
***apply adhesive only to the ends****

I used a border punch for fun!

Oh, and that's how it folds flat for mailing!!

Cute, huh?

And very easy!  And a good use for scraps, too!  Try it!

how about this version......

Another day, maybe......
