just when I thought I was done.....

one more Christmas gift needed......a gift card holder!

directions for this easy, scrap user-upper coming after Christmas!  So useful to have on hand!
The family is cave-exploring - not for me -  so I'm crafting!

Merry Christmas if I'm not back before then......

(and NO!  I'm not giving an AARP card - it's just what I had on my desk at the moment)

ohhh!!

we've been issued a freeze warning for tonight...
road crews will start spraying all overpasses and bridges with sodium chloride to slow down any freezing.  They will begin at 2pm.

this is breaking news here in Tucson!!!
too funny.......

pretty idea

Thank you  card:  one new embossing foler and stamp, white cardstock, old blue ink (hero arts)

rub ink onto smooth side of folder, carefully place cardstock inside, close and run through your machine (not a new idea but sometimes we forget how pretty it looks)
Oh, I wiped away some of the ink from the center oval for a lighter space before running it through my big shot.
Space word using same color ink and trim away excess cardstock.
attach to a card.

a great buy, too.
found these at Scrappy Chic - two folders and 2/3 word stamps for a great price!  And I have been looking for the Quilt pattern for a long, long time.

done and in the mail!

finished it

a great book to read - in the middle of the day - don't let the thickness deter you.
check it out at the library......Obsession by Nora Roberts.

and what's on my work table today before I started the end of the book and right after I finished...

lots of ideas in my head with all of this.

heard of Sonoran Hot dogs?  They are a speciality here in Tucson.  We found a new food truck very close to the house that makes footlongs in red buns!  byw there are probably 100+ sonoran hot dog food trucks here.  We drive by at least 5 most days.  They just pull into any empty spot, put up a tent, some tables and a few folding chairs and start their grills.
We weren't too sure of the red buns so just ordered a 6" Dog.  Let's just say we will be going back for more!

what is a Sonoran Hot dog?

hot dog, wrapped in bacon and grilled
added to grilled bun - not a regular hot bun but a sonoran hot dog bun -tender, sweet, yummy, from the bakery.....sometimes called a borillo, I think.
topped with pinto beans, chopped and grilled onions, tomatoes, mustard, hurachi sauce and mayo.
I know, sounds pretty strange but amazing!!
I'm not a fan of hot dogs so I sometimes order without the dog.  Still can't eat the pepper they all include though -too  HOT!!!

halloween/thanksgiving project

are you having a Halloween celebration this year?  Giving treats to friends?  "Booing" anyone?
How about Thanksgiving.....having dinner?
Need some favors?
Having any younger ones (or older) that may want to make something while waiting for dinner?

Easy project that you probably have everything you need.....

6 orange ovals measuring about 3 x 3 1/2
one orange strip measuring 3 1/2  x 7  scoring @ 2 1/2 and 5, turn and score @ 1/2 on both edges
fold, burnish and miter intersections
hand cut a stem and punch some leaves and maybe a flower or two
cut some skinny curling strips
glue ovals to create two pumpkins the same size ( I made one then used it as my template)
shape the strip into a U ish shape and glue to one oval. then the other
add stem, leaves, curlyques and flowers.
fill with delights!
don't worry if one or two ovals are missing a little - they can go in the back

remember to glue the overlapping corners

I would cut my strips a little skinnier next time

how cute it this?!
wouldn't be difficult to change the dimensions either to use what you have.
